-
What is cosmetic tattooing?Cosmetic tattooing, also referred to as permanent makeup, is the process of depositing color pigment beneath the surface of the skin by means of tiny, sterile, disposable needles to produce the appearance of hair strokes, makeup, or to enhance the natural features of the face. There are quite a few techniques I offer, so please see service menu for more!
-
Does it hurt?A highly-effective, topical anesthetic gel is used for numbing before, and during your procedure, Pain threshold levels vary from person to person and every effort is made to ensure you remain comfortable for the entirety of the procedure. Most clients report discomfort anywhere between a 0-3 on a scale of 1-10. Having this service performed during your menstrual cycle may increase discomfort during your procedure. If you are a frequent smoker, the topical anesthetics used during the treatment will not last as long. If you have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, be aware that this may affect your sensitivity tolerance to the procedure.
-
How old do I have to be to get tattooed? You must be 18 years or older to receive any permanent makeup treatments at Lure.
-
Can I get tattooed if I’m pregnant? As a precaution, I do not perform cosmetic tattooing on pregnant women. Also cannot treat if you have been on Accutane and have not been off the medication for at least 12 months. If you have any auto immune disorders or health conditions that you feel might effect the pain, healing or result, please consult your doctor. Certain circumstances will sometimes require a doctors note to move forward.
-
How long does cosmetic tattooing last?Cosmetic tattoo treatments are considered permanent and will not wash off, however, they will fade over time and will need to be refreshed to maintain the desired look. Frequency of sessions depends on a number of factors including: the pigment color used (lighter colors fade faster), lifestyle, sun, health of skin, medications, health conditions, old permanent makeup, metabolism etc. Please note that final results CANNOT be guaranteed as each unique skin type will hold pigments differently and break down at different rates. I will re-evaluate how your skin has received the pigment at your second session and make any changes necessary. Additional sessions are not uncommon for cosmetic tattoo procedures, with each new procedure requiring a minimum of 2 visits. Your second session can be booked no sooner than 6-8 weeks after the initial appointment. The first and second session are both included in the initial procedure price. Additional sessions will be charged according to the current pricing. Previously tattooed areas may require additional appointments, and consultation is required beforehand. I have full discretion on who I decide to take in as a client. Refer to menu for more specifics on individual services.
-
How many treatments are needed? For most clients, a minimum of two treatments is always needed, at least 6 weeks apart. With most procedures, the color looks lighter after the first week. Some clients prefer this, while others prefer a bolder look. At the second session, I will assess the color retention and make adjustments as necessary. Everyone heals differently and at unique rates. If your cosmetic tattoo does not heal perfectly after the first session, do not worry! I can always go darker and add more density at your next appointment. Microblading is the most natural looking technique for permanent makeup. There are multiple advanced techniques I also offer if you prefer a more dramatic, or shaded in look. PLEASE NOTE: If you have had your eyebrows previously tattooed and are interested in a cover-up/re-work, you MUST text/email me a clear photo PRIOR to booking your appointment. I cannot guarantee results for cases such as these and I must approve if you are a workable case. In some cases where the previous work is too dark, dense, discolored, or large, tattoo removal will be highly recommended before I begin the cover-up/re-work. Previously tattooed areas and cover-ups will always require additional touch-ups for best results and will be charged accordingly.

What factors will affect my permanent cosmetics?Sun exposure: The sun will definitely soften the look of your tattoo, so sunblock should be used (once healed) to prolong your results. Medications, health conditions, age, skin type, diseases, auto immune disorders, excess oil, unhealthy skin, previously tattooed area, problematic skin, etc. Please consult a doctor if you're on any medications, or have any health conditions that could possible interfere in any way with your permanent makeup results. The regeneration of skin cells: The longer the regeneration takes, the longer the pigment holds. The speed at which the skin absorbs the pigment: The slower the absorption, the longer the pigment will hold. The choice of color: Some colors fade quicker than others, e.g. a blonde color will fade quicker than a dark brown color. Bleeding during the procedure: Excess bleeding during the tattooing procedure will reduce the amount of pigment absorption. Alcohol and certain medications act as blood-thinners and should not be taken prior to your appointment.

What should I do before my procedure? If you have an ideal shape and color in mind, bring a few inspiration photos with you to your appointment. You may fill in your eyebrows as you normally would so I can take into consideration the shape you desire. If you regularly get your eyebrows shaped, waxed, threaded or tinted, please do so at least 3 days before your appointment. However I would prefer you to let them grow out until your appointment, and if there are any stray hairs that fall outside of our final shape, I can remove them. I require clients to avoid any blood thinning medications for a minimum of 48 hours prior to their appointment. This includes Vitamin E, Aspirin, Niacin, fish oil supplements, and Ibuprofen. Feel free to check whether any of the medications or supplements you are taking are blood thinners, just to better ensure your results. Better safe than sorry. Do not drink any alcohol the night before and day of your appointment and limit the amount of caffeine you consume. If you have been on prescription Accutane in the past, you MUST wait at least one year before considering this procedure. Do not workout the day of your appointment. It is highly recommended that you avoid SUN and TANNING BED exposure for at least 14 days BEFORE and AFTER your procedure. If you show up for your appointment with a new tan or a sunburn, you will need to reschedule and will forfeit your deposit. As your skin exfoliates from a sunburn, it will take the pigment with it.
-
How will I look immediately after?Better than before! Your permanent makeup will appear darker, fuller, and more intense than expected for the first few days. This will gradually lighten during the 7-10 day healing process. Redness, raising, and swelling is minimal, and softens after 12-24 hours depending on sensitivity.
-
What should I do after the procedure?I have detailed aftercare instructions that we will go over during your initial appointment, and I keep it very simple for you because I find that this gives the clients the best result. I will send you home with all the information and post care you will need to take care of your new permanent makeup. It is highly beneficial to follow these instructions to ensure a comfortable healing process and to achieve the best results. If you are a frequent smoker, out in the sun often, or do not follow my post treatment instructions, your results might not look as defined, and pigment may fade sooner. If you are iron deficient or Anemic, your pigment may fade sooner and bleeding/bruising may occur during and after the procedure.
-
What should I know about long term care?A good sunscreen should be applied daily AFTER healing and is required to help keep color true. As with any tattoo, sun exposure will make the color soften faster and effect the integrity of the color. Fading speed depends on your skin type, lifestyle, sun exposure, pigment color used, broken capillaries, and if any chemical peels were done after your procedure. ( See above.) Results vary by each client, and absolutely NO results cans and will be guaranteed. Additional touch-ups are priced accordingly.
-
Is the studio and equipment safe?YES! I pride myself in having an immaculate and sterile studio space. I only use single-use, disposable needles and supplies. This means that each set-up for each new client is discarded safely afterwards. Each station is thoroughly disinfected before opening and after each procedure throughout the day.
-
What is Lip Blush?Lip Blush is the implantation of pigment into the epidermal/dermal layer of skin. This service is the ideal procedure to enhance the natural beauty of the lips. Just like brows, every artist has their own style. Here at Lure Studio, we aim to provide a natural, subtle enhancement to the lips. This will not replace your lipstick. Think of a beautiful tinted chapstick, that helps even out your lip tone and defines lost definition at the natural border of your lips. Depending on how your skin receives the pigment and the pigment used, results can last anywhere from 18 months-3 years.
-
Does it hurt? Each person has a different pain tolerance, but generally, it is mild/moderate and very bearable! In most cases, a topical anesthetic is used throughout the procedure. For women, we recommend booking an appointment while NOT on your menstrual cycle. It will help with pain and excessive bleeding of the lips.
-
How many lip cosmetic tattoo sessions will I need?Everyone is different! On average, 2 sessions. An initial session and a touch up 6-12 weeks from the first appointment. Due to the uniqueness of each individual and the superficial nature of the tattoo itself additional sessions could be needed. Touch ups provide an opportunity to assess how your skin responds to the procedure and are an opportunity to make any adjustments necessary while also lengthening the longevity. Touch up sessions are not included in the initial price. Long term, maintenance touch ups will be needed every 18-36 months on average to maintain shape and color.
-
What is lip neutralization?Dark lip neutralization is just another name for a cosmetic tattoo treatment that is utilized for clients whose natural base undertone (the natural color on their lips) is cool or dark. Simply adding the desired “target” color on top of those tones would have undesirable results. The cool/dark undertones must be first transformed to a neutral tone prior to enhancing the color to the desired result. The number of sessions can vary from 2-4 to achieve the desired result.
-
Can you make my lips look bigger? As far as shape, we can not and will not go beyond the vermillion border of your lips. Yes, make up can achieve that but you CAN NOT do that with Lip Blush. The skin on your face and the skin on your lips is completely different and if you go beyond the vermilion border, the pigment will be brighter and bolder, creating a lip liner look. So your lips will look fuller and more defined because most of us lack definition at our true vermillion border, but this is not a procedure to makes your lips larger. We highly recommend looking into lip filler if that is what you a trying to achieve! Lips with filler are actually better for Lip Blush, as filler plumps and hydrates our lips, and smooths out the surface! But it turn, highly overfilled lips can make Lip Blush more difficult! It is all about balance and setting realistic expectations which we will ALWAYS do.
-
Who is NOT a candidate for lip blush?Certain skin conditions in the lip area, medications, and skin types may prohibit you from being a candidate for Lip Blush. Also includes, but is not limited to: -Cracked, dry lips -Smokers -Those with deep wrinkles through lips -Intense sun damaged lips -Thin skin -Highly hyper/hyopigmentated lips -If you do have very thin lips, it may be advised you to look into lip filler first as it will only benefit you and allow the lip blush to be visible! Please contact us if you have any question on being a candidate in general! Things like pregnancy, breastfeeding, temporary use of a skin product, sunburns, etc. may temporarily prohibit getting the service done! Please visit the precare instructions for more information on how to prepare for an appointment!

How do you choose a pigment color? As far as pigment choice, we do HIGHLY recommend bringing in a shade that you enjoy wearing! Pigment choice is a blend of artist and client collaboration. It is key to understand we are tattooing under the surface of your skin where as make up sits on top, so a large component is the warm or cool undertones of your natural lip. So for example, we can not tattoo a cool tone over already cool toned lips. The result would be OVERLY cool toned lips and will not do well longterm as It fades. So we want to see the shades you enjoy wearing, but we will always ensure whatever shade chosen is suitable choice! We also believe that some of the best results, are from your natural lip tones! By enhancing the most vibrant part of your lips and evening that out, it can deliver the most natural, blush of color! Overall, we love a natural enhancement that will age and fade well with every client.

What is microblading and who is it best for?Microblading is a cosmetic tattoo procedure in which a small hand tool and a blade, comprised of a number of needles, are used to create small cuts in the skin to mimic the look of hair. Microblading can last anywhere from 1-5+ years depending on the pigments used, skin type, and lifestyle. Microblading is truly only a fit for about 5% of clients! Those with Youthful, healthy skin, little to no pores, fine brow hair throughout the majority of the brow, and normal to dry skin. This technique also has a shelf life! No matter the skin type, Microbladed strokes start to expand over time and no longer resemble the once crisp/fine “hair-like” stroke in the skin. Also, think about it, we can not keep cutting open the same cuts year after year with touch-ups. It will cause scar tissue! We are very particular about who we microblade, in order to give good both short and long-term results!
-
Does it hurt?Generally, no. Each person has a different pain tolerance, but consistent application of a topical anesthetic is applied throughout the duration. Most clients are very comfortable, but if you do not respond well to the topical anesthetic, there may be discomfort.
-

What are powder brows and who are they best for?Powder brows have many names! Machine brows, shading, form of ombre brows, just to name a few! Regardless of the term, it is a cosmetic tattoo treatment for the enhancement of your brows to create a fuller appearance. Powder brows can range from a soft dust of color, to defined but natural, to a more intense healed result, depending on your goals! Results can last anywhere from 2-5+ years depending on the pigments used, technique, skin type, lifestyle, and upkeep. Powder brows are great for all skin types, most ages, and brows! In our opinion, it can be the most natural option, is the most predictable and best looking long term, and above all, less traumatic for our skin!
-
Will it replace my brow makeup? No! There is a huge difference between cosmetic tattoos and makeup. Makeup sits on top of the skin and underneath the hair. It is buildable and can create texture and density. Cosmetic tattoos sit underneath the hair and skin. Our skin will always act as a “filter” and make it appear softer. Also, over-saturating brow cosmetic tattoos, in order to attempt to replace makeup, lead to poor long-term results. Cosmetic Tattoos are meant to make your life easier, but not meant to replace a makeup routine! There are certain things that should be left up to makeup and certain things that cosmetic tattooing can achieve

I have previous work done by another artist, can I book an appointment? We do not offer touch ups on other artists work. In order for us to properly and successfully cover old eyebrow pmu (permanent make up), it must be significantly faded (80-90%). Working over previous work can be tricky and all depends on its current state, and health of your skin. All cover ups must be pre-approved before booking. Please email photos in natural lighting, with no make up on the brows.
